Monitoring with a Solar-PV or Wind Micro Generation Device :
The Current Cost solution can be used to monitor your energy consumption but also how much power is being generated by your Solar-PV or wind micro generation device.
When a micro-generation device (such as solar-PV or a wind turbine) is installed, power can be flowing though the meter in other directions
If the transmitter is installed in the meter box, this will result in an incorrect reading on your ENVI or TREC, so an alternative monitoring method must therefore be used:
Two transmitters must be used - we recommend one from an ENVI and one from a TREC:
- The first will be connected to a CT clamp attached to the cable feeding into the fuse box. This will read consumption and should be paired with the “Whole House” channel on your ENVI.
- The second will connect to a CT clamp which is attached to the active wire coming from the micro-generation device. This will read generation and could be paired with the “Appliance 1” channel on your ENVI.
- The TREC display can then also be paired to both transmitters
- The ENVI Display can sit in your home connected to your PC using the USB cable, and the TREC display can be placed anywhere acceptable - so you can always see your Energy use as it happens.
In this way, the ENVI can be used to monitor how much power is being generated by your Solar-PV or wind micro-generation device.

3 Phase:
The ENVI can be used to monitor 3-phase power using two additional CT clamps to allow a single transmitter to be connected to three inputs.
The three inputs will be combined into one reading on the ENVI display. However, the behaviour of the individual phases can be monitored on the software when you upload your information from your ENVI to your computer via a USB cable.
The 3-phase power kit provides you with additional CT clamps that you need.
The software can be downloaded here
